Constitution Made Easy

We had a good Constitution class this morning. We watched the webcast of Dr. Paul Moreno entitled The Constitution and the Civil War. It was a bit dry listening but Dr. Moreno pointed out at least two significant things to remember about President Lincoln; That preserving the Union was his highest goal above all else, even if that meant delaying or seemingly giving improper attention to other priorities. and two that he was characterized as being "Prudent", meaning he was thoughtful, cautious and strategic in choosing his actions. We also touched upon some of the prevailing criticisms of Lincoln such as that he didn't move fast enough against slavery and that he possibly violated the Constitution in order to preserve the Union. Finally we urged further study of Lincoln and his life and decisions stressing how important it is to include exploring various perspectives. If you slept late and missed it you really missed it! We distributed this week's worksheet including questions from the Constitution through Article 6. These will be available through the website at

The Constitutionalist has gone to great effort and expense to bring us this unique opportunity to see all the candidates on stage at one time. This is not a candidate forum. This is a candidate interactive debate.                                          For those that came out to see Dan Maes, Ken Buck and Clev Tidwell at our town halls and for those that have seen Jane Norton, Scott McInnis and Tom Wiens along with the State Treasurer candidates, this is a chance to see how they answer questions under the pressure of an opponent sitting with them and with full internet exposure.                                          Please, if you can, come out at 6PM 9 March for this event. Let's educate ourselves further as we move into the caucus and let us support the Consitutionalist with the 8 bucks at the door. The paper isn't making a dime off the event and they need to sell more tickets to break even. Got American Majority Mechanics Program

Exciting news today. I was accepted into the American Majority Mechanics program. In three weeks they'll fly me to Washington, DC for a two day training and orientation to work as a seminar organizer and trainer to mobilize the grassroots in my area. Surprised and honored.

I just got off the phone with the Secretary of State in Colorado.  Even though we turned in over 79,000 signatures it was not enough.  The SOS has thrown out 15,690 signatures he called "invalid".

Now we have 15 days to mobilize our volunteers and finish the job.  The good news is we are READY!  We have been working to prepare and now we can finish the job. Our volunteers are working already to gather the15,690 signatures to finish the job.

Obama Goes Nuclear

In a highly anticipated White House address today, President Barack Obama declared the debate over healthcare “reform” over, saying, “Every argument has been made. Everything there is to say about health care has been said.” He then instructed congressional leaders to schedule a vote “in the next few weeks.” While not uttering the word “reconciliation,” Obama ordered his Capitol Hill allies to use the so-called “nuclear option,” or budget reconciliation rules, to pass their socialized medicine scheme.

This parliamentary maneuver allows the majority party to avoid a filibuster and pass ObamaCare with a bare majority of votes, rather than the 60-vote majority that has been the tradition in the Senate. Both parties have been frustrated by the filibuster in the past. But it has been accepted in order to guarantee that there was genuine bipartisan support for such sweeping measures like the government takeover of nearly 20% of our economy.

Today, many liberals insist that reconciliation is just a normal part of the process. It is not. You can listen to their own words here. Even Barack Obama understood that major reforms should require overwhelming support.

But in their devotion to Big Government socialism, the Left is willing to take America to the brink of a “constitutional crisis,” as Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said in 2005. Schumer continued, “The checks and balances which have been at the core of this republic are about to be evaporated by the nuclear option.” Only today, it’s Obama and his allies who are doing it.

Conservatives are fighting back as best as they can. But, unfortunately, their efforts will largely be ignored by the liberal media, which is giving Obama a free ride on his deceptive statements. For example, both ABC and CNBC parroted White House talking points on how Obama was “reaching out” to conservatives by including some of their ideas.

Here’s the truth: ObamaCare is thousands of pages of liberalism with a few small conservative proposals. The tort reform Obama has “embraced” is a $50 million pilot program. But why should conservatives embrace a trillion-dollar entitlement program for a pilot project that the administration will likely kill in its first year? Everyone knows why serious tort reform is going nowhere – trial lawyers are a leading source of campaign cash for liberal candidates, who raked in more than $178 million in the last election from lawyers and law firms.

 

 

If you have not already done so before now would be a good time to barrage your Senators and House Members, nagging them, hammering them, becoming a burr under their saddle. Now is a good time to put it in your daily reminder to make a call a day until all is lost. This is the time to use the massive negatives Obama is getting in the polling and drive the stake through the heart of this thing once and for all. He doesn’t even PRETEND to say where the money will come from to pay for it.

What a great night!

We just got back from the Constitution Made Easy Field Trip. What a fabulous night. Author and host Michael Holler had a packed house, maybe 80 guests. They served us a light snacks and drinks and had a cash bar for those who wanted it. (We are tee-totalers.)

 

9 came from our Saturday morning group. We drove a 15 passenger van so we could all ride together.

 

Michael Holler went through an education on the Constitution a fraction of America has heard. He took many questions about the text and about the history surrounding its writing. Finally he made a call to action! Learn the simple, powerful authority of the blueprint for our country, and tell others…all in a last stand against tyranny at home.

 

The event was captured on a two video education set which will become available in a couple weeks.
