American Cafe Legislative Update 25 Jan 2011

The American Café,

Here are the big items up this week in our State Legislation. This is a list I received from our area 9-12 group. We like and support the 9-12 groups we are aware of.

Warmly,

Peter and Adrienne Robberson-The American Café, prayer and Political Action Home groups. 573-2193.

(Honest Disclaimer: While this may go without saying for most, we’ll say it anyway just to avoid any appearance that we whole-heartedly follow Glenn Beck. We find we are at greater and greater odds with Glenn when he inserts himself into the religious arena as a religious teacher. He would be the first to admit that Mormon teaching is different from orthodox Christianity and we maintain that there are significant and important differences. That said, we heartily support his (non-religious) efforts to educate America as to our Founders original intent and values and to our Constitution and founding documents.

We are finding more serious departure from sound, Biblical, historical, Christian teaching (referred to as “orthodoxy”), and greater but unfortunately more subtle, and ear-tickling teaching that immature Christians are likely to accept in his teachings.

I know you’ll want to email me to ask for examples. But let me save you a step. They are myriad but the latest is his take on the use of the terms “brothers and sisters.” Believers have used this since the early church to describe others who have received Christ as savior. (ie, exchanged our fallen selves for Christ’s substitutionary Righteousness). Paul used these terms to describe “followers of Christ’) But Glenn said that we are all, all mankind, are “brothers and sisters” and while that is, of course, true in the sense that we’re all part of the human race, that is not and has never been the sense believers have used when referring to others in Christ.) This is the latest in a long pattern of Glenn universalizing religion; something neither Christians nor Mormons believe. I recently read one writer concerned that Beck was/was becoming a Universalist/Unitarian in his teachings meaning “it doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you are sincere,” and that “all roads lead to god.” This is a dangerous and seductive, sugary-sounding teaching that has a long history of inoculating people to coming to a real relationship with Christ. I understand the critical need for all Americans to come together to fight Progressivism. I get it. But our founders did not design our system around some sort of vague “goodness of mankind” but around a singularly acute awareness that man is fallen and needs redemption. Lets call it the original Trust but Verify. Good men doing nothing will certainly guarantee our failure in America but lets not dumb-down or water down the only eternal hope we truly have. Lets especially not spread a false gospel that somehow all roads lead to true spirituality and ultimately to god.) That would be even more destructive than our country losing our Freedom and Liberties.)

Republican CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETING

Guys,

If you desire to run as a Bonus Member to the El Paso County Republicans NOW is the time to get your letter of intent. Get one at Headquarters.

We have talked quite a bit about Bonus Members. These voting members wield quite a bit of power in the system and actually vote for the State Chairman. (This is your chance to express yourself regarding the Dick Wadhams debacle last year by either supporting his re-election or driving his OUSTER!)

I’ll leave it to you. If you will be running it is not enough just to put your name in. You’ll want to gather as many people to support you as possible so you get elected.

For more information about all these things call headquarters.

Warmly,

Peter and Adrienne Robberson

Our Hearts Go Out to Arizona Families

To normal people it goes without saying but for the few who are always trying to get an advantage over Conservatives and Activists:

We are stricken with shock and sadness over the shooting in Arizona on Saturday of the Congresswoman and 14 others. We feel no need to disassociate ourselves with someone never part of the Liberty Movement to begin with. Therefore we don't apologize for our engagement in calling our Citizens (Christians in particular) back to our Founders' vision and values and to our Constitution and to the Limited Government and Individual Freedoms it enshrined. We have never advocated any sort of striking out against those who advocate a system destructive to ours but have rallied Liberty-lovers to give and to vote; to call and to come to Townhalls meetings; to engage in the process to achieve a better outcome. We were at our local church just before another whacko murdered several of our members on a shooting spree.

We pray for the congresswoman to heal miraculously and for comfort and peace to others who have lost loved ones.

Bethany Joy Robberson!

American Café,

Well it’s official. Bethany Joy Robberson is home and getting settled in. Adrienne and Bethany Joy are getting used to sleeping arrangements and Adrienne is getting back into her routine again. The kids still take turns holding her and worry as they hear her cry in the middle of the night. The kids have discovered a whole new dimension of helping out around the house…(and they thought chores were tough before…).

We want to thank you for all your congratulations and well wishes. We feel your encouragement and support!

We suppose in a few weeks we’ll back in gear again and ready for whatever Washington DC dishes out. We understand that our battle is not a month or year-long endeavor but rather we are seeking a pace of resistance and activism we can maintain our entire lives. We encourage you all to do the same thing.

We trust you all enjoyed family and friends over Christmas and have big plans for your new year!

Warmly,

Peter and Adrienne Robberson
