I got a notice today that the 2010 Census form will arrive next week. It said that the replies are important so the Federal Government can give us our "fair share" of government funds for [Government redistribution of taxes] "...many other programs you and your neighbors need."
There is alot of discussion about how much information you need to give the Federal Government in the census. On past Census forms you'd see questions about how many dishwashers and freezers you have, how many phones and cell phones you have and whether you have internet or cable tv. Some people refuse to provide answers to any superfluous questions at all claiming there is no need for the government to know. Is there a need to know your gender, your race, how many vehicles you own, and so on? The original purpose of the Census was to determine the allotment of Representatives to the House of Representatives. Thus the question "how many people live in your household."
