American Cafe: A clarion call for every pro-life American

The American Café,

Please see the attached and react quickly if you can. Sign the petition if you have not already done so, phone Udall and Bennet even if you already have and then consider supporting Focus if you don’t already.

Hope this finds you all well. Even though we are off for the rest of the summer tyranny and wickedness never takes a day off. DOMA, Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, Elena Kagan’s confirmation hearings, Cap and Trade and Tim Gill’s Foundation to strategically place homosexuals into office are all in motion. We can’t let up because they never let up.

Pray and Act.

Thank you guys so much for caring and standing for Liberty!

Peter,

Tomorrow we will hand deliver an entire set of “Stand for Marriage” petitions to twenty-two U.S. senators’ offices. Your phenomenal response far exceeded our goal of 100,000 signatures – in fact, more than 125,000 pro-marriage citizens have now signed our petition. Most importantly, this is a clarion call to the Senate declaring that we, the men and women who elected them to office:

  • Support the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and oppose any legislative efforts to repeal DOMA. This is the only barrier protecting states that define marriage as between one man and one woman from recognizing same-sex marriages performed in other states;
  • Oppose any measure that elevates any group to protected status based on sexual behavior. Sexual behavior is not equivalent to race, creed, color or national origin; and
  • Urge the president to nominate and ask Congress to confirm only judicial candidates who uphold marriage between one man and one woman, and who will strictly interpret the Constitution.

A call to action for every pro-life American…

The revelation that Supreme Court nominee Ms. Kagan unduly influenced the development of a statement released by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) regarding the heinous act of partial birth abortion is a call to action to every pro-life American.

The documents released by ACOG were ultimately used as “expert testimony” in two Supreme Court rulings and a lower court ruling.

It could be argued that Ms. Kagan’s possible document manipulation contributed to years of this horrific procedure being legally practiced. She also lobbied the American Medical Association to redefine its policies in favor of partial birth abortion.

The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote on Ms. Kagan’s nomination on Tuesday the 20th. I urge you to call your senators over the next three working days and voice your opposition to the nomination of Elena Kagan. Click here for your senators’ contact information.

The president’s medical “bypass” puts seniors at risk!

In another development that will impact our families, last week President Obama used a “recess appointment” to bypass Congress and appoint Dr. Donald Berwick to head Medicare and Medicaid Services. Dr. Berwick is a proponent of health care rationing, wealth redistribution and a strong advocate of the British health care system. His views now pose an immediate threat to the health care of millions of American seniors.

On this week’s CitizenLink Report video, Stuart Shepard and I examine what Dr. Berwick’s appointment could mean for our senior citizens, Medicare, Medicaid and health care reform. Go here to watch this week’s online video.

Thank you, as always, for standing with us and for your continued prayers.

For faith and family,

Tom Minnery
Senior Vice President, Government & Public Policy

P.S. Thank you very much to those who helped us collect more than 125,000 “Stand for Marriage” petitions to be delivered tomorrow to the Senate. Please take the time to call your senators and ask them to oppose Elena Kagan’s nomination.
